I'm thinking the GWJ community will be a bit more reserved about this one. ![]()

Maybe they should finish this game before they talk expansion

Not only that, but I extremely dislike the Blizzard model of "sell them expansion content that most other games give you because you pay them monthly".

I dont think there's anything wrong with the 'blizzard model' of expansions. I dont know if you play or have played, but it seems like you haven't. There's a ton of 'free' content added with major patches between the expansions. The expansions (Remember there's only been 1 launched so far) added TONS of content. WAY more than anyone would ever expect from a free content update.
In fact the only major game I can think of that breaks this model is EVE. There are zero paid for expansions for the game, but at least one or two full expansions worth of conent added. CCP is uncommonly generous. In the end its probably the best thing for them to do. The most important thing about not charging for expansions is that you do not fracture your user base at all. Everyone has the same version. From a technical standpoint, that has to be a much easier way to do it.

Very true. Blizzard definitely has the free updates here and there where they add entirely new content. Most recently it was a new zone for 70's, a new 5 man and heroic dungeon, and a 25 man raid all for free. These expansions are just that, they expand the game so much and change the game in so many fundamental ways that the development behind it warrants the sale of the game itself. However, I do believe that since it isn't a stand alone expansion it should not come with a $60 price tag.

Wait, they plan to make a new film based on the game? Does the reel stop spinning half way through in the theaters? Do the cups of Coke spontaneously spring leaks and does the popcorn randomly explode hot butter in your face?
XBL/PSN/STEAM/WAR/SPORE/RAPTR
Too funny.

Naw the new movie has been in pre production forever now. They even went back to Awnawld to see if he was interested. Word was he was going to, but changed his mind. I forget who they picked to replace him. Then the writers strike happened and this was shelved. This is the first bit of news about it i've heard since the strike ended.

LotR and City of Heroes adds all content free iirc. And yes I do play, I haven't seen many things added to WoW.

I will admit LOTRO adds a ton of content; however, they are planning there first expansion also. As much as it pains me to give Blizzard any type of credit, they do add content. Blizzard does not come near Turbine, but they still do better than most. The only thing that kills Blizzard is there damn slow. Really have not seen any benefit for taking so much time other than getting every ounce of mileage out of current content they can.
Back on the topic of the thread, "Expansion" finish the game first! There is no way anyone should be paying for a expansion for AoC at this point or possible future.
Zune | STEAM | Live | Xfire
Is it a free expansion cause otherwise they're insane.
Yes blizzard adds a lot of content and has added a good amount since release. The only argument that can be made it should have been included in release/BC.
