Sound Load Technology

I was checking new DS games released as of late and stumbled upon this bit of information for Bangai-O Spirits :

Quote:
"Never before utilized for DS systems, the Sound Load technology in Bangai-O Spirits allows players to transfer level data among DS handheld systems via the use of sound and the DS microphone. This technology works by taking the level data and turning it into a sound file which is output through the host DS speaker. This data is then interpreted through the microphone of the recipient DS, and the level transfer is complete. It is also possible to upload and circulate sound files of level data from Bangai-O Spirits online via the Internet, or to save files to a recording device like a PC or jump drive for transport and distribution, allowing gamers to catalog, share and compare levels online easily with gamers all over the world! Widening the range of play and interaction even further, gamers can also deliver high score and gameplay footage as transferable sound files by using Sound Load."

Pretty neat o_O.

Edit: added intro + quotes to make it less spammy , sorry for the confusion =P

... Is this spam?

If not, then that's a cool little feature. I wonder what it sounds like? Old school modem squawk? The hum like bloops from Independance Day?

This does feel pretty spammy -- I think this may be a marketing plant.

That said: weird. It's a handheld modem.

Why would you do it that way instead of using the WiFi?

Delta has been around and active for over a year. I'm sure he just copy and pasted some marketing speak. It IS pretty interesting.

It IS pretty cool. And I guess it would sound all high-tech and sh*t.

I hope it sounds like that screeching tape loading from the 8-bit era. I miss that sound.

Just pray for no background noise. Your level will come out hideously deformed.

I say we pay someone to glom this onto the Spore Creature Creator so that I can see what the Conference Call 12-days-of-Xmas monster looks like.

In Ultima Online I used to poison hams and leave them on the ground in cities for people to pick up and eat. I can't believe how many people thought street ham was a good thing to eat. -Elliottx
