WoW BHA: Nature Resist Set Construction
Okay, I finally have all the mats I need (and am broke once again
). Can anyone in the guild can make the following items? Unfortunately, Kam doesn't quite have the BS skill or the CE rep to make the plate pieces, and I don't have a high enough JC or LW. I should need:
- Wildguard Breastplate - BS 375 & CE Exalted
- Wildguard Helm - BS 375 & CE Revered
- Wildguard Leggings - BS 375 & CE Revered
- Pendant of Withering - JC 360 & Scryer Revered
- The Natural Ward - JC 375 & CE Exalted
- 2 Nature Armor Kit - JC 340, drop from Slave Pens
Not sure if we have people able to make all of them, although I'm guessing we likely have most of them. If it's a matter of buying the pattern for someone, I'll be happy to contribute the cost. I should be on most nights this week, or could just mail things, although I was hoping to catch people so I'm not worried about having it before Sunday. I may or may not be on Kam, but if I know who to look for, I can keep an eye out.
If not, I'll start looking in Trade I guess, but I'd be a bit nervous as I'd be handing a stranger several hundred gold worth of mats at a time.

I can actually make all the Nature and Frost Resist gear for SSC on Krindle. I used to get mats together for Crazyivan for the Nature Armor Kits, and would then talk to Cyrana about the Necklace and Ring. The required amount of resistance needed for the fight to tank Hydross is 365, including buffs and auras, so assuming you have a hunter running Nature Ressitance and a Flask of Chromatic Wonder, you actually need 260 resistance from gear, including kits.
One thing to add is that if you are getting the helmet (why wouldn't you with that hot resistance it gives), you should also get the Glyph of Nature Warding, as it adds 20 more.
EDIT: There are Frost equivalents to all the above pieces too. The goal is to have uncrittable defense and focus on dodge, miss and parry without those pieces on, so you can tank hydross (blocks mean nothing in this fight).

Yep, the plan is to get all of the above pieces plus the CE helm enchant, which should put me at 261 base. Add in 105 from the flask and hunter, and I'm set. According to my math, I have plenty of defense. In fact, if I get a few more badges and get the badge bracers, I will only need one defense trinket, which will help me keep my health higher.
I actually now have the defense to wear the frost set as well (it has less defense on it, so I had been a bit short), so I'll probably start grinding those mats too. I'll be taking a slightly slower approach though, as I used most of my savings getting the necessary primals for the nature set.

Just throwing this out there, the Nature resistance totem gives an extra 70, if you have a shaman in your group.
Not very viable unless it's an emergency situation though, since it is an air totem and putting it down would sacrifice Wrath of Air, Grace of Air, or Windfury.

Dyrrian was able to make me the plate pieces last night, and Deinamic pointed me to one of his UT mates that can make the two jewelry pieces. Grinders said he could make me the nature armor kit, so I'm in very good shape at this point.
As I was starting to set up my Closet Gnome setting, I also realized my math was off. The plate pieces with the helm enchant give 190, and the two jewelry pieces are worth 65 total. That takes me to 255, so one armor kit is enough to put me over the 260 barrier, which means I can still do a stamina enchant on the legs. Everything I listed would have actually been 271, not 261. So now I'm also looking for someone who can do Nethercleft Leg Armor, but I'm pretty sure we have several of those. Think I just need a few more primal earths plus the leather, but that's easy compared to the rest so far.
I also realized I forgot to thank those who gave me a few primals here and there (can't remember exactly who all did, so I don't want to leave anyone out), and Jacky who made a generous gold donation that I used to buy the last of the mats I needed.

I've got the entire set squared away now, and put together my best gear set including it. In the gear I'm currently at 13,284 health and 14,361 armor (a drop of about 1.1k health and 2.2k armor from my best survival set), with 263 base resist (can thus boost to 368 with the hunter aura and flask of chromatic wonder) and 491 defense. Those numbers seem to be pretty good based on what I've read and what was in the original thread on this topic way back when. The one thing I'm a bit worried is that my avoidance has dropped to 38.96% (taking off 90 dodge rating will tend to do that I guess...). Any thoughts about how worried I should be about that? I guess that compares with where Krin was back in May, but it's been a long time since I've seen an avoidance number that low on Kam, so I got a bit nervous. I'll take a look at some nearby possibilities as far as boosting it while keeping the resist, but that's extremely unlikely to happen by Sunday, so thought I'd get a second opinion.
