Anyone else watch this beside me?

That fight last night was a bit of a yawner, but it was impressive watching a real Thai fighter surgically dissect a dillitante. Gives me mad respect for them.

I didn't see the show but will have to Tivo the next episode. I recently watched this muay thai-centered movie on Netflix instant. It's not the world's greatest movie, but it looked locally produced and the fight scenes were pretty cool.

That's funny.

I'm part of a Muay Thai school that hosted a seminar with Ajarn Chai Sirisute. At the seminar, he walked around the room correcting people's stances, drills, and techniques. At one point, he singled me out in front of the whole assembly and made a few minor adjustments to how I was holding my left hand (turning my wrists in toward one another rather facing front). I tend to have a pretty serious game face on when I box, so he commented "relax, you look like Ong Bak" and laughed.

Ong Bak was definitely humorless during the movie. He's the rural super warrior on the quest to recover his village's religious idol from smugglers. His citified cousin was the silly one.

Ong Bak isn't about story, it's about gracing you with the absolute best Muay Thai movie ever. Watch Onk Bak for the fights and enjoy it. Hell, it doesn't even have to be in english to be enjoyed.

I watched the last episode on Tivo last night. Be interesting to see what happens when they weed out some of the early contestants. I just find myself fast forwarding through anything that doesn't involve training, the fights, or footage of the eurasian minx they made as a co-host.

The sole American was a true disappointment.

I'm just waiting to see who finally shuts up that arrogant French dude.

Yeah, the American just didn't cut it. The French guy is going to get whomped by somebody, but since this is a reality series the producers will probably try to work things so he doesn't get beat on until at least halfway through.

Same. I've been watching the show but I'm just kinda watching the training/fights also. (and that hottie).

I find it weird that they add sound effects to the fights.
I felt bad for the Canadian. He seemed like a nice guy and could of really improved in the training but he was totally out-classed by the Thai fighter.

The American was dissapointing. I didn't think the Scottish figher was great but he was nailing the 1-2-10 on the American. The inside leg kicks were brutal I wouldn't be standing after those either.

I find it an interesting show even though its a bit corney.

Does is seem to anyone else that these guys are more disciplined/mature than your average MMA fighter? I'm comparing the type of guys I see on Ultimate Fighter and these Muay Thai fighters.

Interesting to hear that you guys are following this.

This series was filmed over here in Singapore and of course the finals have come and gone.

I thought it was pretty well done but seriously the end should come as no surprise once you watch 2 or 3 episodes.

No Spoilers but yes, people do get their just deserts and nope, they are not all that much disciplined/mature than other types fighters as you will see.

Oh and as for the host? Her name is Jaymee Ong

I'm glad that the french guy got kicked. Seriously what a do*che.

I know that he was complaining that he won that fight. Well that @$$hole would. But it was a close fight.

It looked pretty sloppy. I wanted to see the UAE guy fight him, if only because it would have been a grudge match. The UAE guy was itching to have a chance at him.

I would have liked to have seen the other Thai guy beat on him just to make it clear he didn't belong there.

Now I need to go do my 120 kick drill.
